Ecki ecki Neee!! Ye silly sods!

An old kniggit found his way back here to this (in)famous messageboard, inspired by another old kniggit, Donk.

As some of you might know, I was part of this silly guild for something like a decade, originally invited by Vilf (who happens to still to be one of my best RL friends).

It was back in the early days of Everquest, where we fought over the value of a bonechip and died and died and died killing orcs and other critters. It was fantastic Mr. Green

It was also a different sort of guild I joined, Sillyhood, with it's code of respect with humor, good black mature humor, and a bunch of people (not toons, mind you) that actually meant something more than just a bunch of pixels on a screen. Much more.

I joined Sillyhood on Povar when Ihad left leadership to Nallor, it was back in the previous millenium. Later on Nallor left and I took over. We had a blast of a time, many old friends whom I still think of, and miss hearing from. That would be Shalico, Red, Nallor, Wane, Ezekiel and many others, including many of the people who joined such as Donk and Mitch. And not to forget our brilliant allies from the guild Arbitors of the Apocalypse - some of them in our guild today.

I had to realize the value of being awake during the European day time, so playing with all you lovely US folks had to end so I could play EQ in the evenings and not during night time and mornings, so eventually, and with a heavy heart, I decided to transfer to Antonius Bayle, the one and only EU server in EQ. So, I use the word "so" to much Razz

At first I wandered the dubious ways of teenage powerguilds to see and learn new aspects of the game, but eventually Dusty (another old RL friend of me and Vilf who also joined Sillyhood on Povar) decided to found our own little sanctuary, and thus seek likeminded people to play EQ with as well as communicate all sorts of RL things with.

And that's what I remember from Sillyhood, and that's what we have today in Patina (the name of our EQ guild on Antonius-Bayle server). A fantastic collection of originals, all way past maturity and into the gerontics, but with a life experience and from that a sense of humor that beats much else. I am confident the good old sillyhood'ers still hold that virtue higher than others, and I can say one thing: You guys tought me what an online guild shoud be about, and that concept is alive and kicking in Patina.

So if any of you ever feel like playing a bit of EQ - or just have an old account you want to check in on now and then, please get in touch and have some fun together with us.

A resounding NEEEEEEE!!! to you all

Great to see you again Barb!

Funny story... The night after we talked over PMs I dreamed about making the run from Surefall Glade to Freeport... at lvl 6 and no SoW! It was just as terrifying as I remember. Smile I hadn't thought about that run in over a decade. The human brain is very strange.

Hearing you talk about the good old days made me go back and do some reminiscing myself. Thinking about all the Sillies that have made the full gauntlet with us, from back in UO/EQ/AC all the way to WoW or DDO or EVE today.

Some of us have moved on to other groups or other games, some of us have had to cut back on playing because of kids or job, and some of us have moved STRAIGHT up. I'm looking at you, Ihad.

Not sure if you've heard from him lately, but Ihad works for some company that does something with guitar playing elves or karaoke singing taur... er, minotaurs, or some such. They're supposed to be a big deal, I guess. Wink

I'm hoping we can get the band back together for Diablo 3. Return to our roots, as it were. If I'm remembering correctly, Tyr and Nallor and Pent and Deli have expressed interest so far. Not sure where Ihad stands on playing with us there. Hopefully, with it not being an MMO, the conflict of interest thing would be a non-issue. He'll probably claim he's to 'busy', though... yeah, busy drinking at Brewfest.

It would be a blast to see Tyr and Elaine(Nallor) and Pent and Fistandantilus(Deli) and Zontlu and Ihad taunting Diablo (or whoever) a second time-ah.

Good luck with your guild, Barb... they're in good hands. Smile

*Ni!*

Hehe more memories appear reading your response, Mem Smile

Pent and Deli, aye, I can tell you a little anecdote about when I met them in the big apple some 6-7 years ago. I was visiting a girlfirend I met in Denmark who had to return (she was from US). Her company called her back from her position in Denmark at that time.

And since I happened to visit NYC, Pent and Deli wanted to meet. So... where to meet. Well, Deli suggested a Starbucks at downtown Manhatten, and I though that sounded fine. Entering the coffeeshop, however, I saw maybe 40-50 people sitting and drinking coffee, big shop, big crowd, no clue who Pent and Deli were ... never seen them before, no photo, no nothing. And there were many just standing at the counter so I didn't particularly stand out in the crowd. Difficult.

So what would a good kniggit do? Well, i stepped into the very center of the restaurant and shouted as loud as I could: NEEEEEEEE! And to my delight I heard Neee, Nuuu, Ecki ecki, Poiiinngggg from a table down in the other end, so that's how we met. Had a coule of great days there, eating and drinking. I'll never forget that moment at South Manhatten Starbucks.

Reminds me, I still owe Deli a good steak at a fancy restaurant .... as far as I know he moved to Thailand and married, haven't heard much from him since. Oh yeah, as a sidenote, I am getting married in 10 days, not the same girl though. (Deli if you read this, please get in touch!!)

Nee! to you all, stay silly!

NI and Good Day Sillyhood!!!

I was feeling a little nostalgic this morning so I thought I would dive in to the old times that rocked my world so incredibly... yes, I mean being part of the Sillyhood.

You guys shoot me an e-mail an let me know what is next. I really want to hook back up with all of you. I am back at UO again, but the game is dying worse now than ever before. I suspect it's total demise in the next few years unless they make some major changes. Everquest go to be too much like work tryng to keep up with all the latest and greatest, so I finally gave that up a few years ago.

Miss you all, hope your RL's are good. NI NI NI!!!

Venus McSteel, Redvelvet, Vanilla and whoever else you might remember me as.
